ABOUT Paddock Singers?

The Paddock Singers occupies a unique position in the Lewes choral scene, being the only women's chamber choir in the area.  Led by our musical director, Ruth Kerr, we have built a reputation as a group who deliver highly entertaining, polished performances, with an eclectic range of music spanning the centuries and the genres.  Every one of our performances is a celebration of the music we sing and our joy of singing together!
 
The choir originated in the community chorus of The Finnish Prisoner (Orlando Gough's brilliant opera, staged in a converted industrial warehouse in Lewes in 2007), and has since grown in confidence and size, with the current membership standing at around 40 dedicated members.  Our performances have been many and varied, ranging from flashmobs in Trafalgar Square, theatrical choruses at the Brighton Dome, choral evensongs at Chichester and Southwark Cathedrals, and of course our regular concerts in Lewes, where our Christmas concert is now so popular that we have to deliver it twice!  We had a particularly excellent year in 2023, receiving a categorisation of "Outstanding" from the panel of judges at the inaugural Peterborough International Women's Choral Competition, at which Ruth was also the recipient of the Conductor's Award.
