E mail from Fiona 2 September 2018
I apologise for the length of this e mail but I think it is better to send you everything together. I will also put a copy on the Membership page of the website so you can refer to it there. The password to the membership page is “paddocksingers18”. I have highlighted any actions you need to take! If for any reason you are no longer going to stay with choir this term please let me or Ruth know and arrange to return your music.
Rehearsals and concerts
We start rehearsals this Thursday 6 September at St Annes from 8.00 to 9.30 and continue every week up to and including 20 December.
In addition we have the following events (please save the dates):
Paddock Songbook: Sunday 14 October. This will be a couple of hours of informal singing, socialising and cake. Time and venues to be advised.
Christmas Concert: Sunday 9 December: St Michaels Lewes. There will be an afternoon rehearsal and evening concert. Further details to come.
Carol Singing at Brighton Pavilion: Friday 21 December. Rehearsal probably from about 5pm with concert mid evening. Further details to come.
To this Thursday’s rehearsal please bring “Hark the Lark” book, “Music when Sweet Voices Die” and “My Love lived in a Distant Land”.
Subs are now due at £150 for the whole year or £60 per term. Please if possible pay direct to the bank account (Paddock Singers) Account number: 63090384 Sort code: 60-22-05. Please use your surname as a reference. If you do not have access to on line banking please bring a cheque payable to “The Paddock Singers”. Please pay subs promptly.
We are holding our AGM on Thursday 20 September at 7.30pm before rehearsal. This will be a brief meeting to elect the committee, review the year and approve the accounts. Please attend if you can. I am delighted to report that the committee have all agreed to stay on and I am delighted Jane Burton is joining us. If anyone would like to join the committee or indeed stand for any of the key positions – Chair, Treasurer and Secretary – please let me know.
In relation to duties, I am trying to cut back on the amount I am doing for the choir so if you have any spare time and would be able to take on some of my tasks (you do not need to be on the committee) please let me know and I can discuss where you could really help out. On the subject of duties, I (along with Kath, Carole and Sarah Hunter) are rehearsing for an opera at Glyndebourne in early March and unfortunately rehearsals this term fall on Thursdays so we will have every limited attendance this term but will see you when we can and will be working very hard behind the scenes to learn the music for the Christmas concerts.
With Sarah and I being at Glyndebourne and Zoe (having done brilliantly in ger A levels being off to uni) we are rather light in the Sop 2s so Ruth will be looking for some volunteers to try out Sop 2 so please consider whether you want to try a new part (if only for a term!). I am also delighted to say we have some new joiners coming along so please make them feel welcome.
Looking forward to seeing you all (briefly) on 20 September. I will still be working in the background so feel free to contact me with any questions.
